Boho Boto {short for Bohemian Botanicals} was founded in 2014. Boho Boto is an apothecary offering bioregional, organic and sustainably wild harvested high quality, small batch herbal extracts {tinctures} tonics, skin care, chais + more. Based in the fertile Willamette Valley of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Traditional Territory of the Kalapuya. I grow and forage the majority of the plants and mushrooms in my products ~ about 75% I occasionally source for herbs like elderberries that I am unable to harvest enough of seasonally.

Plants and Mushroom are harvested at their peak concentration of beneficial plant compounds. I utilize the knowledge of ancient wisdom, current herbal practices as well as modern science for gathering and medicine making. Products are made in small batches by me and are always whole, never isolated phytochemicals. Just as mama nature intended. Easy to use + easy to assimilate.

Making Extracts {Tinctures} ~ Fresh or dried herbs are chopped and then steeped in a specific percentage of organic cane alcohol and spring water for one month. Alcohol is the best solvent for extracting a wide range of plant compounds and constituents!! Extracts are full spectrum, meaning the natural ratios of the constituents are in tact and have not been isolated or removed. Extracts have a very long shelf life (under the right storage conditions, 100 years!).

Making Salves ~ Fresh or dried herbs are chopped, slowly steeped in warmed oil, then strained. Infused oil is blended with beeswax in specific ratios. Small amounts of essential oils are occasionally added to enhance scent and to naturally preserve.

Making Skin Cream ~ Fresh or dried herbs are chopped, slowly steeped in warmed oil, then strained. Oils and butters are gently heated and then carefully blended with ingredients such as aloe vera gel and floral hydrosols.
